The Admirable History of the Possession and Conversion of a Penitent Woman

Sébastien Michaëlis; tr. W. B.

An account of the Aix-en-Provence possession of 1610-11, with a 'Pneumology' appended that sorts demons into three hierarchies against the three Pseudo-Dionysian ones. The classification is presented as testimony: Michaelis says the demon Berith gave it during an exorcism. The case ended with the priest Louis Gaufridy tortured and burned in 1611, which is where this scheme comes from and cannot honestly be separated from it.
